Micro-Certification: Building the Emergency Services Team for Today and the Future (Pre-Registration Required)
September 17, 2022 08:30am to 12:30pm
Hyatt Regency Columbus Room: Madison
Description: "Buzz Lightyear is a familiar character from Toy Story and other movies. His saying seems rather lofty as City Managers try to imagine, deploy, and fund Emergency Services in their communities (dispatch, police, fire, EMS, and Emergency Management).
Emergency Calls for Service begin at dispatch. How does your dispatch center perform against national benchmarks and standards? Are calls for service processed efficiently and effectively?
Police, Fire, and EMS have undergone considerable change during the past three years, beginning before the pandemic. Social unrest, budget constraints, and now lack of employees will likely impact all three disciplines for years to come. Can some work be done with non-sworn employees? What are the trends in billing and staffing EMS? And are all the lights and reflective materials on your vehicles a good thing or bad?
This session by the Center for Public Safety Management – the exclusive provider of Public Safety Services for ICMA – will bring together experts in the various disciplines to look at what communities may be facing in the coming years and an opportunity to prepare for those challenges.
