Mack was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 6, 1965. That year, the Beatles released four albums, one of which was “Help”. Maybe that’s why Mack ended up in a profession centered on “Help”-ing people!
Mack has been involved in EMS for 35 years. His EMS career began in the summer of 1983 when he attained his EMT Certification in Quitman, Arkansas, where he grew up. Mack joined the Quitman Volunteer Fire Department, where he volunteered for the ambulance service. Since then, he has worked as a Dispatcher, EMT, Paramedic, and Flight Medic. He also served as the Operations Director for one of the largest private ambulance services in Arkansas.
He is currently the Quality Manager at Metro EMS (MEMS) where he is responsible for ensuring its 387 FTEs deliver quality service to every patient. MEMS will exceed a response volume of 100,000 requests this year.
Mack's mobile healthcare experience spans all EMS provider types including volunteer, hospital-based, public utility model, private, and air medical.
Mack has served as board member and held many positions on Arkansas EMS associations, the Arkansas Ambulance Association, and numerous advisory boards and committees. He is the hospital liaison for MEMS and serves on Sepsis, STEMI, Stroke and Trauma committees at the hospitals in the MEMS service area.
He obtained an Associate of Science in EMS from UAMS in 1998, a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from UALR in 1992, and a Master of Health Administration from Webster University in Little Rock.
Mack is married to Tina, who works at Acxiom, and they have 4 children.

The answer to that question is crucial as the healthcare system continues its rapid transformation to economic models based on value. This informational, and at times controversial, webinar will guide participants through examples of the healthcare finance value transformation, illustrate the recent publications that seem challenge the value of the current EMS economic model, and highlight ways EMS can change and tailor the value proposition to our most important stakeholders.

Coming to MedStar in 2008 as the Operations Director, Matt has helped guide the continued development and implementation of numerous innovative programs with healthcare partners that have transformed MedStar fully as a Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) provider, including high utilizer, CHF readmission reduction, observational admission reduction, hospice revocation avoidance, 9-1-1 nurse triage programs and partnerships with home health agencies. He is also the co-author of the book “Mobile Integrated Healthcare – Approach to Implementation” published by Jones and Bartlett Publishing.
Matt has 40 years’ experience in EMS and holds a Master’s Degree in Health Service Administration with a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Data Management. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has done consulting in numerous EMS issues, specializing in mobile integrated healthcare, high performance EMS system operations, public/media relations, public policy, EMS economic models and EMS research.
Matt is the President of the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) and chairs their EMS Transformation Committee. He is also Adjunct Faculty for the University Of North Texas Health Science Center, Department of Health Management and Policy, as well as an appointed committee member to the Joint Commission’s Home Care Professional and Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) and the Lewin Group’s Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (HOQR) Program Stroke and AMI Expert Work Group, developing metrics for use in value-based purchasing measures for emergency departments.

The concept of the "quadruple aim" has been coined to suggests that a better experience for the provider not only helps prevent burnout and other issues, but also typically leads to better patient experience of care and improved outcome.
This webinar will introduce the context of the original Institute for Healthcare Improvement Triple Aim and how these tenets, when applied within a Mobile Integrated Health based system, have a direct impact on the well-being of people working within the organization. This well-being includes key factors of provider physical and mental wellness and how these are directly linked to the delivery of quality care, workplace engagement and acceptance to change.

This webinar examines the journey to Sepsis Alert implementation by MEDIC EMS and Genesis Medical Center. Explore how the hospital system approached the ambulance service to begin implementing Sepsis Alerts in the pre-hospital setting to assist in identifying and treating patients meeting sepsis criteria through protocol and alert implementation to the receiving facility. This collaborative effort through a patient safety fellowship project helps to identify and treat patients more quickly to reduce mortality rates.
